The instructions for upgrading to the 5.14-oem kernel were already listed in this post. There are some difference between OEM kernels and kernels which are normally in Update Manager. We normally recommend upgrading to the latest available in Update Manager and only then if having problems would one switch to an OEM kernel.ninjanoir78 wrote: ⤴Thu Dec 16, 2021 11:11 am hi,
I have the linux mint 20.3 beta UNA on 5.4.0-74 kernel, and I would like to upgrade to 5.14 but in update manager the last one is ; 5.13.0-22..?

This topic is discussing Canonical-maintained kernels and not mainline kernels. The 5.14-oem kernel is supported until April 2025 according to those who have it installed.legacypowers wrote: ⤴Thu Dec 16, 2021 1:11 pmAny good reason for using 5.14(which accodingly to kernel.org reached its end of life on 2021-11-21)?

yeah, you are right, but i mean i didn't upgraded my kernel until i needed something that only the new kernel would provide.SMG wrote: ⤴Thu Dec 16, 2021 2:08 pmThis topic is discussing Canonical-maintained kernels and not mainline kernels. I'm just asking out of curiosity

Re: Kernel 5.13 series now available in update manager
you are right. There would be no reason to upgrade the kernel, as you say, unless there is some problem.
with the 5.4 by default I had a very unstable internet connection (via cable). so i installed the 5.14oem and solved the problem. sure, if I hadn't had any problems, I wouldn't have upgraded the kernel.

Yes, this is what I have also concluded... only update the kernel if you have a hardware issue... if everything works, don't worry about it
If you have an AMD machine, STEER CLEAR of 5.13... you'll get snowballed and have to GRUB it to 5.4 (ctrl+alt+delete after splash screen).
If you're AMD, use 5.11.

| Beware of kernel 5.15. If you have an AMD processor, the computer won't shut down
Also the post that says 5.13 fails for AMD processors
I should have read these posts first (having just discovered these facts for myself!)
I'll stick with 5.11 on my AMD 4700
How do I stop the kernels prompting for upgrades?

Re: Kernel 5.13 series now available in update manager
There is no 5.15 kernel available for Linux Mint at the current time so I'm not sure what you are referencing.gandalfmeister wrote: ⤴Tue Jan 18, 2022 6:07 pm | Beware of kernel 5.15. If you have an AMD processor, the computer won't shut down
Have you tried right-clicking the update in Update Manager and selecting one of the ignore options?

Re: Kernel 5.13 series now available in update manager
Just updated to 5.14.0-1020-OEM and it is running great on my System 76 laptops. No issues so far.
Re: Kernel 5.13 series now available in update manager
Go to Update Manager, right click on bad update kernel, select ignore future updates from this package. This is ensure you still get updates, but prevent the bad kernels from prompting updates.gandalfmeister wrote: ⤴Tue Jan 18, 2022 6:07 pm | Beware of kernel 5.15.
