Linux Mint IRC - Why Not On Freenode?

Why doesn't Linux Mint use Freenode for an official IRC channel?

Is there something wrong with Freenode? They are considered the largest OpenSource IRC server.

For the very simple reason that Mint and spotchat has a long history together
The people behind our present IRC location hosts our some of our servers (the first) at a subsidized rate
