I may replace my hard drive, up the RAM on a desktop.
-- I want FAST boot, FAST operations (Mate) ... but I like eye candy (hence Cinnamon).
-- I don't like Mate's GUI file manager (no setting for automatic dual-panel display), although I could easily overcome it with Double Commander, which I have also installed.
-- But of late Cinnamon's spices and whatnot have gotten to be a pain. Too slow, hard to customize.
