Hi. Is the codename for Mint 15 known yet? If not, I have a suggestion - Nicole.

You mean Mint 14. If 12 is Lisa, 13 (the upcoming one) is something beginning with M, 14 would be the N one.

Mint 13 will be Maya. Mint 14 will indeed start with N - that way the O is for Mint 15.

Mint 13's name has only just been announced. Please be patient.

Linux Mint 14: "N" Name suggestion list

The LM 13 naming thread is now locked, but (after doing a search here and in Community) there isn't one started for 14, so before time runs short...

What should LM 14 be called?

- a female name with a first letter of "N", ending in "a"
- tradition frequently has Greek names picked

My recommendation is to use: Nyssa

This is a fairly common, beautiful sounding, short Greek name meaning "truth", which I feel is very appropriate for Linux Mint.

List:

Nadia
Naima
Natalia
Natascha
Nayna
Nicola
Nina
Nora
Norma
Nya
Nyssa

When should a poll be started?

I think the poll should be started when there is a good bunch of suggestions here to pick from? Seems there is a little less choice with letter N also. No suggestion from my end yet...

I was thinking more of a cut-off date from a production point of view.

Well, if you can hack up a basic list of common, qualifying, names, and will extend the poll with new names as they are submitted in the comments, I'd think "why not start a poll now?" Alternatively, collect suggestions in this topic and somewhere around perhaps June/July start a poll. The name for Linux Mint 13 became known roughly 2 months ahead of release date. The poll was started roughly 5 months ahead of release date. Going by the same logic, start the poll in June/July 2012. No guarantees about whether that is in time, or if it will swing the name one way or another; though Maya was the most voted name for Linux Mint 13, Clem shared he chose the name a long time ago, after his daughter's name

Nina is my favorite, but some others are Natalia and Nya.

Starting a poll early will unfairly affect voting.

The end of June sounds appropriate, then.
Thanks!

OK, so as long as patriarchal control doesn't overrule this one... we're off to a great start.

Remember, names should end in "a" :) To give it that extra difficulty factor...

You're absolutely right! I forgot that was part of the naming convention. I officially withdraw my request for Nicole. And feel dumb.

Whoa, way too early.

Anyway, it should begin with an N and end with an A. My suggestion would be "Nadia".
