SMART data is usually not available over USB bridges, at least for about 95% of the bridges. xsog may actually not see much more than the fact that it is a WD drive... :wink:

In this case, using hdparm should at least give some info about the actual read performance of the drive through the bridge:

sudo hdparm --direct -t /dev/sda
and keep in mind that actual write performance will always be even lower...
