Found another way for ejecting media besides remapping the eject key on the aluminum Apple keyboard.

Step 1. Right clck on desktop and click on Create Launcher

Step 2. Name box: Eject

Command: eject

No icon: click on "no icon" Choose eject media icon.

Create: click on create tab

A eject icon will be placed on the desktop. Execute to ensure it works.

I move the "Eject" icon off the desktop to the panel. Once on panel I delete off desktop.

Update: Eject - easier method.

Open "Create Launcher" with right button of mouse on desktop.

Name: Eject

Command: Eject

Icon: Media Eject icon (search for eject, I chose the dark media-eject icon)

Hit create tab.

Once the icon is on the desktop execute an eject.

I moved the icon to the panel and then deleted the icon on the desktop.

Much easier than mapping a key.

Update:

To eject CD/DVD

Open "Create Launcher", with right button of mouse.
Name: Eject
Command: eject
Icon: media-eject I used the dark version
close by hitting create button.
Will see icon on dektop. Right button - execute. I then drag the icon and place on panel. Once on panel I delete from desktop.

SSD: I intalled the SSD. The time from turning on to login no difference. Seems like the EFI is not affect by the SSD like on a pc. The SSD when Mint is launched is much faster. Much faster than the 320 gig original hard drive.

Note: I have noticed that on the Apple aluminum wired keyboard, the built in USB ports are not working.

Congrats to the Mint team for such a great distro. Really surprised how easy it was to have Mint run on my iMac.

I am so glad I came across your post, but sadly only did so after I had posted this http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=184157

iMac is one thing, MBP another? Or are there few differences?

In my case, I might even also get a used iMac and use a tablet when traveling to meetings. Your post just opened up that line of thought for me.

Keep us posted on your results with your Macs.

Hi there -

let me know if you are still interested herein,
meanwhile I created a very extended how2 install Mint Ci on (any) Mac - as pdf, well equipped with pictures.
Unfortunately it went lost after the attack on the Mint Servers.
Here you can download it from my Dropbox:

Although it is in German - the pictures are self explaining;
if not - give me a shout.
