Re: Thank you to those supporting others here!
Update:
This last week one of my wife's relatives came by with a laptop that had the Windows-8 "virus".
She complained about how slow and difficult to use it had become and wanted my help.
I had a choice:
1. Upgrade to the Win-10 "virus".
2. Install Mint.
Actually I could have reinstalled Win-8, but (IMHO) that wasn't a viable option.
I explained the pros and cons of each choice, offered her a chance to play with the "live" environment for both systems, and let her choose. She chose Mint.
In a sense I "cheated". Though you CAN make a Win-10 flash-drive install, it runs about as fast as molasses running uphill. In Siberia. In the dead of winter.
When I apologised for the poor performance of Mint's "live" environment running from flash, she shut me up and told me that her computer didn't work that well when it was new! If this is BAD performance, she can't wait for the REAL Mint install. . .
Delivered it last Sunday and she couldn't be happier if she was twins - and this is a 60 - 70 year old woman who didn't even know that Linux/Mint existed! (And is most definitely NOT tecno-savvy.)
Still happy. Computer runs like a Nitro-burning top-fuel dragster and she's wondering where Mint has been all her life.
Chalk another one up to all the efforts of the Mint team!

Thanks at Wharfrat and JoeFootball for helping me with my problems with too much disk space usage in the root partition. I'm a newbie with hardly any terminal skills and it's like leading a blind man through a maze. Thanks for you patience!

Hardware, operating systems, software and networking are are nothing else than necessary, cumbersome and easily replaceable evils to store and provide data. Triple backup your data at least, twice on-site, and another copy off-site.
Thank you everyone

(Actually + ten zillion!)
I, myself, have become so fed up with the BS, posturing and generally toxic behavior on so many open-source software fora that I have stopped participating alltogether. Which is a disgrace and a crying shame.
In contrast, the Mint fora - all of them - are a breath of fresh air. Everyone is polite, kind, and understanding of those of us who don't yet have our Ph.D's in Linux.

Love it!
Do you have it full-size? A4 or Letter is acceptable, but a D or E size print would be best.

Thanks to all
I just wanted to thank all the people here offering very useful help.
I have had a rafter of essentially newbie problems solved here.
Recently also, my hard drive was making noise and I read about resetting the cables. Has worked like a charm. Quiet computer again.
I want to thank especially the knowledgeable people who try to answer my stupid questions and the administrators for their patience.

Re: Thank you to those supporting others here!
I would like to thank the Linux Mint developers for creating the most stable distribution I have ever used. Linux Mint has the best Out of the Box experience, no need to do anything to get something to work because it just works out of the box. Of all the distros that I have used, Linux Mint boots the fastest and has the fewest issues which do not affect stability and are tolerable until fixed. Keep up the good work Clem and the other Linux Mint Developers.

Add brian_p to my list, for pointing out how I could get Mint to use AirScan (WiFi access to the scanner side of my Canon MFP).

Hear! Hear! I find myself upgrading to Linux Mint 20 and I'm amazed how Clem and all the other folks were able to come up with a new version in the middle of a pandemic. Kudos to all!

A huge thank you to Clem for having the BALLS to stand up for what is right and tell Canonical to bugger off when they tried to slip a back-door installer into the repos.
Viz.:
Thanks Clem, you deserve it!

It's people like Clem, who are working like dogs to keep the distro honest, that makes Mint my go-to distribution.ZDNet article: Linux Mint dumps Ubuntu Snap
https://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-min ... untu-snap/
where Clem discusses his dissatisfaction with what Canonical is doing with Snap and Canonical's attempt to use the popular Chromium install package as a "back-door" to the Ubuntu Store.
Thanks Clem, you deserve it!

Don't forget, the best way to thank the Dev Team is to donate! It's free for us to use, but not for them to develop. Thank you LM Team!!

Thanks for the tip!If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!
As obvious as that may be, it's not at all intuitive unless you're familiar with this kind of forum software.
Many other fora have a specific edit selector for editing the title. I had to ask that question somewhere else, (I forget), to figure out how to "solve" an issue.
Thanks again for a useful tip. Maybe it could be pinned somewhere obvious?

Been there, done that, have an entire chest-of-drawers full of the t-shirts!
Seriously, I'd love to subscribe at the "big icon on the left hand side of the list" level, but the Lord only knows how expensive that is. Even so, it's still worth buying them a beer, (OK, a soft drink!), whenever I can.
One app that I have on my smartphone has a clever way of soliciting donations. They have several tiers:
1. Buy me a cuppa coffee [$5]
2. Buy me a cuppa coffee and a doughnut [$10]
3. Buy me dinner [$20]
4. [ specify amount ]
Cute, and it works!
