Ubuntu leave the .deb package system to use one minority, Ubuntu quick steps away to Debian, what will do linux mint? is it time to turn LMDE on the main project ?

Clem has already stated that there are no plans to change the base of the main editions.

Topic already being discussed here, so locking this one. Read my summary there to understand what this is about. As nothing is decided yet for 16.04, there's nothing yet for the Linux Mint developers to consider.
