After almost 4 years I've finally taken a radical decision: I reinstalled Linux in my main PC at home. From an arrangement in dual boot LMDE2 + Windows 7 sharing a SSD, to a Linux Mint only system in the same SSD. LMDE2 was with Mate, LM17.2 is with Cinnamon. A pretty radical change...
I did this because:
1 - I don't have much use for Windows (only eventually for tax declarations). Better to run it in a virtual machine. Now Linux has more space to live in the SSD.
2 - I wanted to change from IDE to AHCI mode, and from Legacy to UEFI. I did the mistake in 2012 when I did my first install and never had time (and the courage) to reinstall.
3 - Despite my love for LMDE, I can't stand anymore the lack of PPAs. I need them to keep up to date LibreOffice, I work everyday with Writer, and I absolutely need the best compatibility with MSOffice, and the other improvements from the LO team.
4 - I have taken the opportunity to change DE from Mate to Cinnamon. I like Mate, but Cinnamon is just amazing...
I feel a bit sad to say goodbye to LMDE in my main PC, but I will install it maybe in some secondary laptop where I don't need the latest version of LO.
from LMDE2/Windows to LM17.2 only

Re: from LMDE2/Windows to LM17.2 only
You are right. But I wanted to change branch and DE. As I said, I don't dislike LMDE at all, probably I will install it in another PC.
*It's amazing how fast and responsive is Cinnamon in my core i3 homemade computer with a SSD. Unbelievable...
