I downloaded my Linux Mint iso from the University of Kent and the webpage was well set out, all the checks were easy to download and use and also it was completely idiot proof, instructions non-judgmental, all information explained as it was needed.
The installation was quick and easy and I am very grateful to that body for providing this distro
I had been in dire straights with elementary Freya having somehow managed to get a Windows Trojan and also their Synaptic Package manager became unloadable. I was not the only person to suffer this. I had backups of my stuff, I had a fresh hard drive and tried their upgrade, Loki, that seems to be written only for phones, has no Software Center and no Synaptic and so I got a distro of the latest Ubuntu, and the horrible Unity Desktop that is awful to use. trying to tweak something within an hour of installing I had system error reports popping up. Having become totally worn out from a week of grief and just wanting it to stop I looked for Linux Mint which I had heard people say they are happy with.
It's like waking up from a bad dream. I have all the packages I want included with the os and previously have had to manually install.
This isn't a request for help it's a Big Thank You

Welcome aboard, saparonia! Yes, most of us here are quite satisfied with Linux Mint!

Re: About Mint
I was using Ubuntu earlier. Now i got switched to Linux mint. It doesn't matter which version of Linux Mint you install, there will be a single panel at the bottom with a menu, quick launch icons, and system tray icons in the bottom right. linux Mint comes with all the non-free codecs required to watch Flash videos and listen to MP3 audio pre-installed. Mint has a nice and clean interface with good hardware support. I have used Mint for several major revisions now and see no reason to use anything else.
