Do Apple products (specifically, the iPad) play well with Linux Mint?

Post by James_Smith »

I am sort of forced to get an iPad for my job so I just ordered one. How is the compatibility between LM and Apple? Will I be able to just plug it up and go, or will there be extra steps? Or will it work at all?

I've never had an Apple product and the last Apple device I used was an Apple ][ back in the 1980s.

I tried connecting with an iPAD with a cable. I was able to read one file at a time. I tried to read a file with the iPAD but it was so limited I had to just e-mail attachments back and forth.
I was using LM 18.1 Cinnamon 64

You are asking the wrong question. The right question is "Do Apple products play well with other operating systems?" All too often, the answer is no. I should think that you would be able to plug your iPad into your Mint machine and transfer files over USB, but it ain't necessarily so. If nothing else, you can install Dukto on both machines and transfer files that way.

You are correct, sir. I rephrased it.

Used to work with clementine, then it was broken, not sure if fixed again.
