I especially like the Thinklight, which is enabled in the pic, and the Trackpoint.

I also like the durable carbon fiber case and solid keys. The laptop still boots up really fast, even faster than my Linux OEM laptop, and does not freeze at all, which my other laptop does. Webcam and mic are great! Graphics are good, audio is crystal clear.

I don't use anything else. My current one is an X201. I pretty much live in it.

Been a fan for years, current is T430 which replaced a T410 which in turn replaced a T60, can't remember what it was before that other than an earlier Thinkpad.

Yep, I have several ThinkPads, including T500 - R400 - X300 - X200 - T61 (14" WXGA+) - R60 (15" SXGA+) - X40 - T43p - T43 - T42p - A30P, as well as various parts machines that are not in working condition. Actually, the older ones are the ones that get daily use.

T420 here. Just got it as a holiday gift last month. Upgraded RAM to 8 GB. Runs 18.3 Xfce beautifully. Had a T60 a few years ago, ran Xubuntu and later LM 17 well, but the WiFi was a bit wonky at times. With the T420 all is bliss.

Enjoy your T500. ThinkPads are da best.

I replaced the Windex OS on a friends Lenovo6000 n100 the other day and it runs fine. Much better than I though it might by the way he described the way it used to run. It is a lot faster than he is.
I dropped in LM 18.3 Cinnamon 64

What about newer Lenovo Thinkpads or other models? Didn't Linux had some installing on some of Lenovo's notebooks and PCs?

Hi,
ThinkPad T430 running the shiny new Linux Mint 18.3. Works like a charm.
Wiped off Windows a while ago. I had had enough of it.
Good to see fellow ThinkPad users here. :)

I have installed Mint on several older T42s and it works fine. Was just given another one the other day.

Cool Thread_Love Thinkpad=See My Signature >AND_ NO_LIE=PROOF
Just took a Pic. of my 2XT420, and 1Xx200 (tablet) (32inch TV background)
The T420's are identical, and run on cloned disks, cloned from a "master disk"
Backup is covered.
Only drawback is "I'M ADDICTED!", and still shopping for another t420/430
PS I never added a pic to a post before, so....

PS. I hope no one think I'm a power waster, I rarely turn on a second machine, that's just back-up
Mint 20.0, and 21.0 MATE on Thinkpads, 3 X T420, T450, T470, and X200

I am running Linux Mint 18.3 64 bit Cinnamon on the second hard drive of a T470, which is the latest model (at least for a little while, with the T480 being released very soon). I am also running Centos 7.4. I chose it because of its very good history with supporting Linux among other reasons (Lots of ports, durability, support for two hard drives, user upgradeability, extensive support documentation, etc.)

I run Mint 18.3 cinnamon on a Thinkpad T510i. Works well 99% of the time! Even gaming on it is pretty ok, well, except for games made after 2006... :P (was just playing Rayman 1 in Dosbox)

I've been a thinkpad fan for years! Love the no-nonsense durability, build quality, and oh yes--the keyboards! I currently own (and use) 5 thinkpads, all running linux mint xfce, a couple are set up to dual boot (separate hard drives) mint 17, and 18.2 xfce. All run pretty much flawlessly. My daily driver was until recently a t520, but I am now using L430 for the improved 4000 intel graphics. I've noticed the "L" series doesn't get a lot of love from the thinkpad enthusiasts, but I really like them. I still have 2 old sl510's running mint--in fact I'm typing this on one of them now!

Yes. I have an IBM T43 made in 2005 and it still runs great. I use LM 18.3.
