Re: Sylvia more stable than Tara
No problems with 19 here.
Note that 19 has a brand-new codebase, so teething troubles are inevitable.

Re: Sylvia more stable than Tara
I don't use Samba at moment (though I may need to agaim in future). However Tara (fresh install) solved alot of my problems..for example in 18.3 my bluetooth speaker didn't get recognised automatically (had to set it up every time). Also feel Tara is faster, but not sure if true. Not had any crashes or problems with hardware.
Re: Sylvia more stable than Tara
Using samba on Mint 19 xfce without problems. Our home network is made up of mint 17, 18.3, 19, & Win7. All have samba shares set up. So far (I started with the beta), 19 has been very stable. A few annoyances, but most are fixed by now. On one machine, 19 is more stable than 18.3. This is the case of a Dell latitude e6570--the only Dell in a stable of Thinkpads. The Dell is the only machine with nvidia gpu. Maybe you could post your specific samba problem, and I'm sure you would get help.
Re: Sylvia more stable than Tara
I agree. I love Tara more than Sylvia, but she is giving me more headaches. New loves are always more prone to highs and lows. But I like it, I like it, yes I do...
Re: Sylvia more stable than Tara
Try switching themes to Mint-Y. I could be wrong but when I tried Mint 19 (I use Cinnamon 18.3) I thought it looked VERY similar to my set up:
Window Borders - Mint-X
Icons - Mint-Y
Controls - Mint-X
Desktop - Mint-Y
Worth checking out of it's a combination of the stability of 18 and the looks of 19.
