Well, I took the plunge with my laptop. I first backed up everything using Timeshift, Aptik, and Grsync.
I went from 18.3 Cinnamon to 19 Xfce by performing a fresh install. I created a new partition to hold 19's
/
partition and assigned 18.3's /home
partition to 19. That seemed to go well. All my documents, etc. are fine.Hiccups along the way (so far):
- Google Chrome and Chromium kept asking me for a keyring password. Finally got that resolved by deleting the .google-chrome and .chromium (sp?) directories.
- Shutter won't capture pics (which I installed from scratch).
- Back to square one with Bluetooth---won't stay connected to devices. This had to be tweaked in 18.3 to get it to work.
- Can't connect to our desktop computer's hard drive that's on the same network. This also had to be tweaked in 18.3 to get it to work.
- Windows don't always maximize when I click on the maximize button.
