Hi.
I have just installed Linux Mate Environment 1.2.0
This is the 32 bit version as I have dual installed it with Windows XP on an old 32 bit notepad.
It works fine, I have Internet access except:
The Package Update Manager can't download from
gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/packages.medibuntu.org_dists_precise_non-free_binary-i386_Packages
or any other listed URL
and the Website at https://forums.linuxmint.com/
no longer exists!
(This may be because Firefox 12 doesn't like some https pages)
How can I get Linux Mint to install all the updates, so I can use a browser that works with https websites.
Do I need to set it to download from Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 32 bit version?
I have tried the following in a Terminal window that doesn't work:
sudo apt-get update
I have installed Linex Mint using a CD-ROM. ROM image from https://linuxmint.com/download.php
I am new to Linux, so don't know many of the line commands yet.

What version of Mint?
Re: This website is for all operating systems except Linux Mint.
The medibuntu servers were taken down way back around the time when Mint 13 was active. Sorry, those servers don't exist anymore.
Next time, download the 32 bit version of Linux Mint Mate 18.3, and try that.
You must have downloaded a very old, discontinued version of Linux Mint Mate, as Firefox is now at version 62. I'm surprised that FF 12 works on any current web page.(This may be because Firefox 12 doesn't like some https pages)

Yeah, as others have said, you installed an ancient version of Mint, by the looks of it that's Linux Mint 13 from 2012. There is no way you downloaded that now from that URL, it's no longer available or supported, those repositories are failing because they have been shut down years ago. Install a current version of Mint.Mark1962 wrote: ⤴Sat Sep 15, 2018 7:06 pm gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/packages.medibuntu.org_dists_precise_non-free_binary-i386_Packages
