Remove LM17.1 from triple boot (Solved)

Post by katman »

Help Needed
At present time running LM17.1, LM19. and Windows XP in triple boot configuration.
I want to remove LM17.1 and keep the Windows XP and LM 19.
Here is the hard drive information:

Code: Select all

katman104@katman104-MS-7267:~$ sudo fdisk -l
[sudo] password for katman104:
Disk /dev/sda: 298.1 GiB, 320072933376 bytes, 625142448 sectors

Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x74487448

Partition table entries are not in disk order.
Need Step by step since I am not to experienced with using the terminal commands.
Trying to make sure that I do not destroy the LM 19 or XP.
Have the LM 19 data backed up but not WIN XP.

Thanks in advance for any help to do this.
Could not find this exact example after much reading.

I would boot to a mint live (install) usb/dvd .iso and open gparted
to determine the no longer wanted partitions and delete them there.
Everything in life was difficult before it became easy.

and then remove the entry for LM17x from the Grub Boot Menu,
- you may have to do that manually, if the sudo update-grub won't do that.
