Finally trying XFCE 18.3

Post by Tomgin5 »

I picked up several really old Dell mini Inspirion 910 notebooks for $0.00. Most only have 8 GB of SSD but 2 have 16 GB. I tried Cinnamon 32 but there is n0t quite enough room on the SSD to run without fatal crashing on reboot. XFCE runs and seems fairly stable. The only thing so far is I have forgotten how to move the window up enough to click the "OK"on the "Update manager". I had the same issue a few years ago on another small screen computer. Someone mentioned a very quick fix but I have forgotten it.

Hi, TomGin5.

In order to move the Update Manager window up a bit so that the [OK] [Cancel] buttons can be clicked at the bottom of the screen, you press the <Alt> key, while you left-click on the title bar. Keep <alt> key and mouse key pressed, while you move the mouse pointer upwards. This way you should be able to move the Update Manager far enough upwards to make the buttons at the bottom visible.

HTH,
Karl
