Mint in Crises?

Post by Acewiza »

Why do I keep hearing rumblings about some sort of Mint Crises? I've seen at least 3 stories about it in the past week - desktop disarray, devs unhappy, yada yada. Sounds to me like the same cat herding nonsense Linux people have been dealing with since day 1. What's up? :?

Just so as to lessen chances of feeding the troll, could you at least link to some of those stories?

You could read the Mint blog and form your own opinion. Going straight to the source is probably a better idea than asking for people's speculations here.

I've also read some of the stories the OP is referring to and those are just opinions of the article writers. Like Moem says, form your own instead. Writers need to make their stories interesting and controversy is one of the easiest ways to do that.

I know the very articles you're talking about. They keep incessantly appearing in my own news feed.

They're little more than click bait. They cherry pick bits of Clem's blog, and then write an article around it which clearly demonstrates the authors don't even really know what they're talking about.

It's so pathetic, it's almost as bad as when you get a spam email or a scam email and it's got typos and poor grammar and is therefore easy to spot.

Tech journalism the world over is done a disservice by these National Enquirers of technology, and they really need to step up and do something about it.
Please remember to mark your fixed problem [SOLVED].

Isn't this exactly what the media do to almost every story nowadays? Even if all of the false narratives are true, all it proves is that Clem and his team are human. Mint will be fine, just like Linux was after Linus's "time-out".

Yup, total clickbait. I generally like SJVN's articles but this one was trash.

A very very long shot. Pure speculation to be clear. As if Microsoft were worried about Linux Mint.

No, I think before accusing people of trolling, perhaps you might consider informing yourself of current events everyone else who responded seems to be aware of.

When things are going wrong in an organization, the people running it are typically the least likely to provide any meaningful details. Feel free to not contribute to my opinion.

Maybe not nothing, but they do seem to be blowing things up, in my view. It reminds me of when Linus announced that he was taking a break, and some people were acting like he had been spotted standing on a chair and tying a noose around his neck.

Glad we agree on that. I much prefer if people form their own opinions.

I hadn't heard about that - I'll post about it on a bunch of blogs and start a gofundme for poor Linus!

Answering a simple question with condescending snark just earned you a user list update.
