I too tried MX. One of the attractions was no systemd. Suspend worked perfectly when tested vs. Mint 18.3 which 10% of the time locked up the computer, but printer setup was a pain. All in all a very nice distro, and I will continue to tinker with it as new versions are released. My main OS is Mint 18.3, but I don't suspend on certain computers, like my dell latitude.

it's just another Linux Distro.
Nope, it's special... The home distro of Cinnamon. Only a selected few distros, offer that much.

I'm a straight up user not a developer or a tinkerer.
Had enough of windows 10 and its "bull in a china shop" updates.
I like Linux Mint especially the XFCE version which gets done what needs to get done without a lot of showmanship and fanfare yet is attractive in a utilitarian way.
It's great for situations like mine where neither the computer nor it's owner are possessed of an overabundance of CPU power.

I installed the old T42 with AntiX; AntiX lasted until one of their rolling kernels killed it.

Kim
antiX has never had a rolling kernel. User has to upgrade their kernels manually.

Wasn't Mint the first to also use MATE? The other one I remember came later with Ubuntu MATE.

UPDATE: I answer my own question.

All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....

I can only use one Distro at a time on one laptop, might as well be Mint 19.1. Having no major problems at all.

install VirtualBox and you can try out as many as you want to play with w/o disturbing the current desktop/distro.

Or VMware player which is free. VMware workstation is paid version.
