Logo discussion continued

Post by JerryF » Wed Oct 02, 2019 7:40 am

A couple of members have mentioned the new button logo here:

viewtopic.php?p=1694457#p1694457

and I just wanted to add my opinion. I agree with member Schultz.

I'm finding that more logos and other things like interfaces are "minimal" to the point of boredom. For me, what helps to make an OS interesting is the small things that give it character.

Here's one of my favorite menu buttons:

I like dimensional graphics, not flat ones.

I love that LM button.
Please be polite and remember to mark your fixed problem [SOLVED].

Presently running Ubuntu 19.10 on a MBP 8,1 and dreaming about my return to Linux Mint.

Also looking for a new job.

I believe the word you're looking for is skeuomorphic. I also believe we've talked about this before. So to keep things interesting, I've linked to a different article this time, even though the previous one was good too.

Anyway, the new logo... while I'm not really a fan (it's too generic for me), I do think it's more modern than the old one, and in the end I don't care all that much. It's just looks after all. It's what's inside that counts most.
