Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' What are your First Impressions?
Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' What are your First Impressions?
Downloaded and Started using Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' on Tuesday on my AMD PC that had so many problems running 'Tina' 19.2 that was plagued by so many Mouse and Screen Freezes that I was having to do clean installs almost everyday, as 'Tina' 19.2 just didn't work well on my AMD PC
Where in Contrast 'Tricia' 19.3 is a Totally different 'ball game' very smooth and elegant and though I don't want to speak too soon, I'm very tempted to say its almost Perfect! and I am really loving using Linux once again, as I've done everything I can to try and break it, without success!
Just like to know if others agree with that

My AMD system froze up on the fresh install of 19.3 xfce, I changed kernels and it is running fine.

Hi Trytip
I was just Scrolling through the Yahoo News quite slowly, when something suddenly dropped and I got 'Black Screened' but that was the only time that it's gone wrong (so far)
In order to try and break it, I upped the magnification on my 40 inch LCD and as well as having several programmes all opened at once and I was also Scrolling as fast as I could, where apart from that one 'Glitch' which was not connected to my Testing, 'Tricia' was absolutely 'Bullet Proof'
Where in my own opinion 'Tricia' 19.3 is 'Beyond Amazing'

Tricia is still Beta, so problems are expected.

I went to the 5.3 series and it seemed to work fine but I ended up going to 4.15 since I never had problems with it. Bear in mind I am not certain it was even a kernel issue. It only happened once and really don't remember what I was doing at the time so I never reported it. My stating that I changed kernels was more of a area for you to check if your problems persist. XFCE has been running flawless since so it could be a gremlin running loose in the PC or the nut behind the keyboard.

Hi Haveamint
I also upgraded the Kernal and have had no more problems so far, although I know what happened the last time I said that (Lol)

Seconds after writing that Computer went 'Black Screen' and wouldn't Boot up!
Message said BIOS error Bug Comreset Failed
So I'm writing this from another hard drive without the Kernal upgrade
Any ideas?
What would cause a BIOS error Bug, as that's what it said

A couple of days ago I did an in-place upgrade of 19.2 Cinnamon to 19.3 on two machines, and they're both running fine. Nice! Good stuff.

Linux 'Tricia' 19.3 got a Bug in the BIOS when I upgraded the kernel, went Black Screen and wouldn't Boot Up so I had to do a Clean Install and kept the original kernel

How to do that? Even in place upgrade from Beta to stable should be available, again how to do it when 19.3 stable is released?

Sorry, it wouldn't be responsible to tell you. It's officially, and wisely, recommended to wait until the official upgrade path has been created. I strongly advise to do so.deepakdeshp wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:31 amHow to do that? Even in place upgrade from Beta to stable should be available, again how to do it when 19.3 stable is released?

I do understand the risk that my system may be borked. With CZ backup I don't have to worry about it. You may add a legal disclaimer that my system may explode if I try it, and let me into the secret.Pjotr wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2019 10:35 amSorry, it wouldn't be responsible to tell you. Or can you please answer how to point to the 19.3 repository rather than the present 19.2?

Re: Linux Mint 19.3 'Tricia' What are your First Impressions?
Never had so many problems with a new release of Mint as I did with 19.3. Nemo-Dropbox installed but no folder would not show up in Nemo. I then wanted to uninstall Dropbox but it was not possible to remove it from the system, either in cinnamon or the terminal or in synaptic. The system would also not shut down. Instead of shutting down it just started up again asking me to log in over and over again. Re-installed 19.2, no problems now. The only thing that was better for me in 19.3 was the blue tooth connection to my logitech mouse works in 19.3 but never worked in 19.2. I know this is a Beta so I expected problems, but this was more problems that I could handle.
Never really had any major problems with Mint on my hardware before. (Thinkpad X1 Carbon) Mint normally runs very well. Do not know why it is so terrible this time.
I will try it again a few weeks after the final release to see if it performs better. If not I will stick to 19.2. Version 19.3 does look good though. Hope I can work with it at a later date.
