by raising the limit to 16pt. No words necessary (from either side). But I understand it can be confusing if you're not used to the platform.
hmmm i used font 22pt for my calendar 16 is not enough, sure it's a compromise and bigger view. i do realize they have scaling working against them and font settings and individual .css configs but that doesn't change the fact that fonts are treated like a plague in linux generally. now how about giving the user to change the color of the fonts in panels and in desktops. :D too much i know

I don't know what the panel has got to do with your calendar but either way I'm the wrong person to tell.

The user already has that freedom, everything can be themed.

I've updated the same machine from 19.0-19.2 and I noticed no problems. I do not expect 19.3 to cause any bugs but if it does I will notify and troubleshoot.

My paranoia has caused me to back up all my files.
always wanting to learn more about Linux. It saved me from the Windows 10 telemetry and SAAS nightmare.

It's pretty darn smooth. I haven't been using it for too long, but I feel like it's about as stable and as polished as 19.2. I had to tweak a few things, but that's likely because I've been migrating my home partition for quite a while and likely have some weird stuff in my .config directory.

However, I can't say I'm a huge fan of GIMP's removal as the default image editor for Gnome's MS paint clone. Gnome drawing is certainly less complex of a tool for the user to learn and it has a smaller footprint on the ISO, but it has so little utility.

that is the 1st thing that I make sure is present, I downloaded it straight away.
I save a lot of images for my forums, and needing to crop out the junk is easier in GIMP for me, than any other editor period.

the downside, is they changed the name of it, as far as it showing up in the menu....
it is a long dictionary term for just the 4 letters, GIMP.... I need to change that, just don't know how to.

It runs great on an external usb SSD. Fixed mouse problems. Installed kernel 5.3 on my mint 19.2 machine. One problem. It broke vbox, Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908) error. Reverted to 4.15 kernel.

Just wondering if this will occur when upgrading to 19.3 from 19.2 ?

I'm having a terrible time with Tricia.

From the moment I installed it, it's been working flawlessly, letting me get all of my work done with no interruptions or glitches whatsoever.

In short, I'm being completely productive. It's awful! I dread the final release because, if it works any better than the beta, I'll wind up getting even more things done.

Perhaps some of the more seasoned experts here can assist with reducing my productivity a bit.

the calendar is on the panel, so the panel settings should have access to calendar options. i had to edit the theme cinnamon.css to get my calendar looking like this. why linux is afraid of font sizes is beyond me. maybe secretly developers have no clue what a good readable screen looks like. here's an example of things should look like . granted my theme is not polished, i still do not understand a lot of editing themes configurations and probably never will, but i don't have to squint in order to looks at a calendar

So far unless I missed it, there haven't been reports of the random crashes with Cinnamon on AMD APU/GPU based computers as with 19.2. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'm still on 19.1. Will there be an upgrade path from there to 19.3?
comadore, pcDOS, hpux, solaris, vms-vax ....blah blah blah..

As a seasoned slacker, I have 3 proven suggestions:

1. If you're working from home you can ingest some psychoactive chemicals. I lean toward double IPA and THC laced butter.

2. Download some games and check them out.

3. (The nuclear option) Install Windows 10 in a VM and work from there.

You should have zero productivity in no time.

Not sure if anyone else ran into this issue but this is the first release where after successfully installing the system, I rebooted and it dropped to initramfs. Thanks to Clem's suggestion, I added "noapic" as a kernel boot option and that fixed it. I updated grub and everything seems to be working fine now.

After installing 19.3 beta I got the following issues:
Chrome would not work.
Gmail would not work.
When I tries Thunderbird, it had problems too
So in-order to get email I had to revert to 19.2
Then gmail worked good as before...no problems.
I did not test further because google/gmail was needed.

What does this command return?

Code: Select all

What icon theme are you currently using?

if you can make sense of it, i'm tired of always conforming to the new theme. the #1 rule of Linus is don't break userspace. my icons should not matter, but it's the one is one i edited and collected since forever. makes no difference if i change to mint y themes

What about

Code: Select all

apt policy mint-artwork
It looks like it's choking on trying to locate the new default menu icon which should be found at /usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/apps/linuxmint-logo-filled-ring.svg and comes with mint-artwork version 1.3.4

If the mint-artwork version is correct and that icon exists, try removing the menu completely, re-adding it and then resetting your personal custom icon.

Edit to add - can you attach /home/mint03/Pictures/linux_mint_cap01.png to your reply?

yes i did change the menu icon. but i thought i was using /home/mint03/Pictures/linux_mint_cap01.png not linux_mint_cap02.png i see now it's pointing to cap01.
i added an extra new menu icon, and it did have the 19.3 mint icon logo, but no config open.

EDIT: well i remove my menu completely and now i can't have my icon i posted here and still can't configure . i'm stuck with a short tiny menu and no returning from this one because i don't timeshift my .config

yes i did change the menu icon. but i thought i was using /home/mint03/Pictures/linux_mint_cap01.png not linux_mint_cap02.png i see now it's pointing to cap01.
i added an extra new menu icon, and it did have the 19.3 mint icon logo, but no config open.

EDIT: well i remove my menu completely and now i can't have my icon i posted here and still can't configure . i'm stuck with a short tiny menu and no returning from this one because i don't timeshift my .config
cap02 works fine for me. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what could be causing your issue.

You posted the content of your original menu config two posts ago - just replace the content of the current menu config with it in a text editor and restart cinnamon to go back to where you started.

No worries - I tried your config as posted (except with cap02) and that doesn't cause the issue for me either.
