In my opinion, Linux Mint sits at the sweet spot of new-ness, stability, and functionality. If it didn't, I probably wouldn't be using it.

The beta ISO's are propagating through the mirrors now - it will take a day or three before that process is complete. I suspect a weekend announcement....

The beta will turn into stable simply by applying the updates.

My Linux Mint 20 Beta is so stable I don't think I'll bother to change it, as its perfect as it is

The xfce version is looking great. Live usb boots incredibly fast and handles audio wonderfully. It also boots instantly on my new hp work laptop, which was manufactured in April. 19.3 required jumping through some hoops. Doing a full install on an external HDD tomorrow and will put it on my old laptops if everything looks good.

You do not need a swap partition: recent editions of Mint use a swap file instead.
