How search engines can be added to Firefox was changed in a recent release of Firefox. That's not something Linux Mint did. Here are the steps to add a search engine on Firefox 78.0.1:
  1. In Firefox go to Preferences > Search > (at the bottom) Find more search engines;
  2. On that page click the icon of the search engine you want to add (that isn't in your list of search engines yet);
  3. Then on the right side of the Firefox address bar click the ••• icon to open the page actions menu and choose Add Search Engine.
Here's a short video to demonstrate the above steps for Google:

Instructions for how to add search engines has also been updated on the search engines pages from

Chromium issue is mentioned in the release notes for Linux Mint 20. Alternative ways to install it are in the user guide: https://linuxmint-user-guide.readthedoc ... omium.html. The link there explains why Linux Mint removed the Ubuntu Chromium package, as that would now sneakily install the Ubuntu Store on your system.

The fourth thing I do on any new Linux Mint installation is:

Code: Select all

cd ~/Downloads
sudo dpkg -i google-chrome-stable_current_amd64.deb
# will not show up in menu until after reboot
