Long pending Thank You to Linux Mint

Post by pritesh »

Hi,
I remembered this while asking questions here recently.
Last year I had to give a certification exam. The exam software is completely browser based. I tried the tests the exam vendor suggested on windows and kept running through issues. So got out my personal laptop (LM 19) and not only did the tests run fine, I used it for the exam. Worked flawlessly....and yeah I passed the certification too.

Thank you Mint Devs for putting out such a fantastic product.

I'm not a Linux Mint fan and don't use Linux Mint
It's strange to hear this from an active user of this forum :D

Why do you say that.
It was more of a joke (A slightly misplaced joke. Sorry).I understand that not all users of this forum use Linux Mint or are fans Linux Mint.

Well, I also find it strange. So you're not alone in this.

Why would anyone who doesn't like Linux Mint and doesn't even use it, dwell on this forum? Highly peculiar.

Because I help out several people I know who I have helped migrate from Windows over to Linux Mint.
You are doing a very good thing.

Back on topic: I think Linux Mint is probably, still, the best desktop Linux distribution there is on the face of this planet. It combines the very best code base (Ubuntu LTS) with some sensible improvements and useful tools. It's as reliable as a ship's diesel engine, very user-friendly, looks good and has loads of fine software in its repo's.

So I heartily agree: thank you, Mint dev team! :)

Linux Mint saved the day when my last Windows 7 OS finally borked itself beyond "economical" repair (with respect to the time and effort involved). So I abandoned it in favour of Mint. Very stable, responsive and a pleasure to use.

I will always be grateful for that and will probably always have Mint running on one or more machines, even though presently it's not my primary OS.

Also these Forums are probably the best one could hope to find, in so many ways, so I give my sincere gratitude for this valuable resource as well.

For the above reasons I'd always recommend it to new users.

HI,
I've been running Linux for 20+ years and have been using Mint for at least 5 years. I find Mint 20 to be outstanding among the distros. The Mint team has been very responsive in addressing issues. I have tried many distros over the years including Ubuntu, Debian, Mandriva, Arch derivatives, etc., and Mint installs out of the box with little or no issues every time. I am especially thankful for the new Warpinator app. I have high speed internet and data transfer speeds are blazing fast. I'll never use a usb stick to transfer files again. Many thanks to all involved.
