Phoronix article on "Ubuntu community friction, uncertainty": Glad LM still has LMDE

Post by oldgranola »

I have read that part of the reason for keeping the LMDE project here going for LM is just in case something happens to the Ubuntu project. Here's an article in Phoronix on recent Ubuntu community issues, difficulty filling key positions, friction and future uncertainty.

comadore, pcDOS, hpux, solaris, vms-vax ....blah blah blah..
Yet I'm still a fn nooob

Mee too, as safe as any bar perhaps RedHat. Debian has had their internal problems too.

I think Ubuntu's future is safe. The community is still very active in development.

The last I heard is that they are accepting nominations for the Community Council. I can only think of a few on UF that I would nominate and one of them is likely not interested because they want to travel more during their retirement. I am sure there are plenty more on UF that would want to do it and do a good job but I spend most of my time there in Networking and Wireless

Redhat/Fedora Debian Arch I don't see going under any time soon.

Ubuntu.... they have the power to stick around, however id say they are one spyware away from disaster.
Server - Debian 10 Buster
Main Machine - LMDE4
Laptop - LMDE 4
workstation - Fedora KDE

I remeber Slack being on an almost even footing with Arch, maybe even greater.

How times change.
