In this thread I had posted that HP had not updated HPLIP to address changes from 20.0 to 20.1. Periodically I've been checking back with HP on their hp's Developer Portal | More Information page, which lists all the versions of all the distros supported. For the longest time, the page read Linux Mint 20.04. That's now been changed, so it just shows Linux Mint 20. OTOH, they now show that version 117 came before 17.1, so clearly this page isn't enough of a priority for them to care what kind of image they're presenting.
I suspect that HP's lack of support for 20.1 (or, in theory, later dot releases as they come out) will prevent anyone using an HP printer which requires the hp-plugin component, from working. Mind you, if you had LM 20.0 and the printer was already installed and then you upgraded to 20.1, it will work. But re-installs will not, nor will installations from scratch, or installations of any kind on a freshly-installed 20.1.
This affects my HP LaserJet P1102w, but it does not affect my HP Color LaserJet M255dw.
