Re: Linux Mint, Firefox, and Google
If worried about all of that why not use Brave or Vivaldi as your web browser(s) and DuckDuckGo as your search engine?
Run it all via Tor as well.
Your employers and what software you use, are you in Russia or China or where?

Re: Linux Mint, Firefox, and Google
First, Mint has always had search partners, including for many years, Google. All this means, as always, is that you can choose whatever search provider you like, but if you use the default, that will generate a little revenue for Mint. Second, Mozilla has no stake whatsoever in Canonical or Snap. Mozilla offers the official Firefox release as a binary tarball, and also offers an official Mozilla maintained flatpak on flathub, and will continue to offer both. Mint has always packaged their own release as a .deb, and will continue to do so. The flatpak version will also continue to be available through the software manager (as all flatpaks on flathub have been).
