GPS ublox7

Post by GreeneBiscuts »

I'm trying to use a ublox7 GPS on an HP pavillion and it won't do anything.
For some reason it was plug and play when doing this on my Lenovo. Install foxtrot, plug in GPS, wait a few minutes.
It shows up on lsusb in terminal, but beyond that I'm lost.

My U-Blox 8 is working FWIW. Bought it on sale from Ameridroid: https://ameridroid.com/products/usb-gps-module

EDIT: In fact, since I had it plugged in and sending data before installing GPSD, the serial port was detected and configured automagically. So it was plug-and-play for me, no need to do the reconfigure as shown in the Ameridroid Wiki. Just:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install gpsd gpsd-clients foxtrotgps
In any case, seems you either have a software config or hardware problem and your issue isn't Mint specific.
