I'm nearly complete with an article on my beginner's experience with Linux, but it's also about libertarian thoughts on the importance of open source, the danger of centralization of power, such as by Microsoft, etc. In it, I will mention that Linux Mint is my recommendation for beginners.
It will be published at the libertarian website http://www.strike-the-root.com when I'm done. I'll repost when it is available. If 2.2 would be available very soon, then I might be temptet to wait till then, but I don't want to be one of those people chanting "When will it be ready!!!"

Yes. I came originally from the anarcho-capitalist position, but am much closer to http://www.mutualism.com now. ... Though I don't want to get into a debate on this forum, just intending an FYI. Probably available next week.

I must clarify that it is not a review of Linux Mint. It isn't even really a review of Microsoft or Linux. It is a comparison of the two mainly along the lines of considering the relationships between power, markets, and libertarianism/anarchism (intentionally not defined here).
I post it here because it is written to a moderately large niche audience, many of whom are not using Linux but might likely consider it, and because I mention and link to Linux Mint as my preferred choice for people new to Linux , which includes myself.
