What music player do you use on linux?
I'm new to linux and am curious as to what everyone using for their favorite alternative player to iTunes is. I'm using RhythmBox but would like to know what else is out there.
Re: What music player do you use on linux?
Amarok i find is quite excellent also..it is a kde program, but even if you run gnome, you can install it with no problem...It even has an equalizer...
very attractive looking also...
Amarok and Rhythmbox are my two favorite players on linux...

Rhythmbox, Exaile, or aTunes. Mostly the first 2.

Odd man out here.. I use Songbird...soon to be Nightingale..
Re: What music player do you use on linux?
I don't use any music library software.
Instead, I keep my music directory well structured using EasyTAG and use default media player (Totem or mplayer) to play music.
I mean, EasyTAG is such a nice tool, so you might want to install it.

Amaroke if I must, but I have Win XP on a second HD and I use it for iTunes
(
Alas, I only use Win XP for iTunes for my iPhone, iPod & iShuffle...
Come on Apple, do us all a favour and make iTunes Linux compatible!!!!!

I just started using Guayadeque and am loving it. I really like the "Browser" window where you can see your album covers. I don't use it to manage an ipod or other mp3 player, so I can't speak to how it handles an external device. I don't use it to rip cd's either (not sure if it can even rip a cd)

I use Songbird
--but in fact I don't have that much of a preference, I use one and then might use another, they all seem to work reasonably well
If I was a dedicated music manager (collect and digitize) music selections, I would be more critical of the interface or operation, and would probably experiment a bit more before picking one
--if I was using KDE desktop, I would probably pick the kde music player selections..

I like that, it's simpleEon wrote:I don't use any music library software.

And if I was managing such a large collection, I would likely use this method as well, possibly because I was a fan of Beos OS, and they could organize a pattern search almost free (part of the file structure)
--in Beos, it was tracker that could organize the searches, very nice, although not limitless

gmusicbrowser. It has a range of different layouts and I use the fullscreen mode a lot when playing back playlists

Personally, I hate the "music collection players"! Really! I'm big enough and smart to properly organize my Music folder, also to tag correctly my files etc. I use just a simple music player like AlsaPlayer or Audacious.DrHu wrote:I like that, it's simpleEon wrote:I don't use any music library software.
