I like Melissa, but it sounds too much like Elyssa, which has been used already.
However, maybe there's a code going on:
Elyssa was an LTS
Isadora was an LTS
and this will be an LTS.... and if it's Melissa, they will all have that "issa" sound (but spelled different ways!)

Some names are so loaded with associations that it's distracting. Like Maria, Mona Lisa, or Marijuana!!!!
This is a name for an OPERATING SYSTEM.

But it needs to sound a LITTLE classy, not too ordinary, but not TOO obscure either... that at least is my take on the previous names.

Of the ones mentioned so far, I like Martina and Monica the best. While they don't MEAN "mint", the letter n's in them cause them to go nicely with "Mint".

Eh, I'm sticking to 'Melissa' because of the Mercyful Fate connection hahahaha

You know I don't consider myself to be particularly thick, nor especially bright either, but when it comes to being unobservant - I could win Gold medals

I started using Mint back in the days of Cassandra, and although I haven't used every single one, I have used quite a few of them. But it was not until I read posts in this thread that I was enlightened to the fairly obvious fact that every name of a MInt distro ends in the letter 'a'. I really did not notice this

Anyway, there have been plenty of excellent suggestions as to the name of the next Mint and I don't think I could improve on them. What I would like to speculate on is the number.

So will it be MInt13 or Mint12bis :?: :?: :D

How about:

Mimosa

With all the unique changes going on with Linux Mint:

1> Gnome 3 Shell and extensions
2> Cinnamon the fork of Gnome 3
3> MATE, the DE to keep the Gnome 2 interface alive
4> Some LM versions still Ubuntu based
5> Some LM versions moving exclusively to Debian
6> Probably many more that I neither know about and/or understand

Maybe Linux Mint 13 will be where all these exciting moving parts solidify into something REALLY great. And the outcome just might leave you -- light-headed :!: :!:  ...

As someone proposed at the beginning of this post, the Roman Godess of Wisdom Minerva would be perfect.

Another good name is Míriel , taken from Tolkien's masterpiece, The Silmarillion. If I remember correctly, she was Feanor's mother.

http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/M%C3%ADriel_Serind%C3%AB

Míriel was also the name of the last queen of Númenor, the most prosperous and greatest realm of Men in Tolkien's writings.

My two cents :D

Doesn't end with an 'a'.

Sorry dude, by then, Mah-dorka was already a washed up leather bag, that is why she was riding on Britney's youth coat-tails during that stunt, it was such a purposely staged publicity stunt, it only made the two of them look like desperate retards. If they name Mint MadoNNa, they will lose a lot of respect from me.

I like Mellisa. It would go well with a LTS release.

My second choice would be Monica.
