Which smartphone does support Linux the best?
I do NOT use a smartphone right now. I want one with Linux. Which one is the best choice?

Re: Which smartphone does support Linux the best?
There are two distinct choices to make here:
- which device
- which OS
These choices are interconnected because not all devices can run any flavour of Linux, and a OS generally has a list of compatible devices. So you will need to do some research.
Your post suggests that there are many choices. This is not the case: your choices are in fact few. And if you happen to live in the US they are even more limited because most alternative mobile OSes do not yet support VoLTE <--- a term that you should look up
Here's a relevant article: https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/linux-sma ... g-systems/
And another one: https://tuxphones.com/best-linux-phones ... uide-2022/
Personally I use a Oneplus 5t running Ubuntu Touch but I will not recommend that route to you unless you have a sense of adventure and like to tinker.

Re: Which smartphone does support Linux the best?
Thanks for those links Moem. I secretly wished for 1 easy tip, but I realise it is bit more complicated. The Pinephone does seem to be popular. But I will REread the links you posted, because it has got lots of interesting information. There is indeed no easy answer to my question.
For now it is clear to me though, that any Linux smartphone (besides the very expensive ones) arent yet fully comparable to the Android smartphones.
What did pleasantly surprise me, is the fact that some of these Linux smartphones can be used as a desktop alternative. Wow. Full mainline kernel support and HDMI connection support. That is rather nice!

That is true. Not a problem for me, because I've barely used Android and don't really miss any of the Android apps.
You have the advantage of never having used Android, so there is nothing you'd have to say goodbye to.
I don't think Ubuntu Touch strives to be fully comparable to Android. As I see it, it aims for a quieter experience, where people aren't as absorbed in their phones as some of us are nowadays. But sure, I can use my phone for calls, texting, Telegram, Signal, light websurfing, some games, navigation, playing music, taking pictures... All of that works fine.
