Dual booting Linux and Windows

Post by colyn »

I was asked a question today and I am not sure of the answer. A co-worker who recently went to Linux Mint (I talked him into it) was wondering if the harddrive he removed with Windows installed would dual boot with the harddrive he installed Linux onto if both drives were installed onto the computer.

Would

Code: Select all

update-grub
do the trick??

Yes
Make sure the Linux HD is the first in the HDorder in the BIOS, because Mint would have been installed that way.

when you run

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub
the output should tell you if it found windows
Linux Mint 21.1 Cinnamon
