The strangest Linux distribution(s) you've ever seen

Post by hoppimike » Fri Dec 20, 2013 1:29 am

Sooooo... what is it? :)

For me, so far, Ubuntu Satanic Edition.

I think they're actually atheists or something though - it looks like a joke to me!

How about you guys?

Now, I know there's Ubuntu Christian Edition, but Satanic?! I guess it's a response to that distro.
Well, I haven't seen a distro that would qualify as "strange". Sorcerer is just...different from other distros, I wouldn't say it's strange. I doubt anyone has seen a distro that is half as strange as the one you mentioned. Satanic Edition...wow.

Nope. I think they're the real deal...

But, does Satanic really win over Hannah Montana? :D

lol, makes you wonder why these things aren't just released as themes!

Good choice, though!

And the USE guys... I dunno. It's the Flying Spaghetti Monster link, heavy metal music and lack of any apparent true Satanic references or information that implies to me it's just a small group of metallers parodying the Christian Edition! :)

Sugar, is the strangest distro I've ever seen. Hanna Montana Linux must be from some overachieving parent... I hope.

Sugar is cool!

However I do think that abstracting it so much from a normal desktop may actually hinder a child, because they might find it harder to move to a normal desktop afterwards.

haha to be honest... I hope not!

Before some months after curiosity about the Satanic Edition I found Ubuntu Muslim Edition - "Sabily".

PS: It's funny because there are so many different choices for everyone. I have nothing personal against the Muslim. Anyway I am Orthodox Christian.

Yeah, I've heard about it too. :) I already knew there was a Christian Edtion, so when I found the Muslim Edition, it didn't surprise me much to be honest. It's really nice to see how everyone can create their own specialized distro, one which will meet their needs. I just love the free software world. :D
Note: like you, I have nothing against any religion, I respect them all.

Apparently the government of North Korea has its own state-sponsored distro called Red Star. Looks like it has a bunch of spyware so that the state can monitor your computer. Maybe our own NSA should look into this. I could see Red Star merging with Satanic to form a Linux Axis of Evil.

By the way Im sure you may have noticed - China have "Red Flag Linux".

EDIT: Here is Red Star - http://www.openingupnorthkorea.com/downloads-2

Hannah Montana Linux. Go Google it.
Problems? Tell us EXACTLY what you've done and what you expected to happen, IN DETAIL. That will save us questions, and we should get along better,

I have dysgraphia. This means I might have understood you incorrectly through no fault of my own.
