Looks like this, or something very similar, might be coming down the line for Ubuntu, and thus Mint.

If this came down to Mint I would be soooooooooooooooooo happy! I would love to just hit the power button by the time I got my fingers to the Keyboard the logon screen would be there ready for me =D. Not worth much for people who never shut their machines off but I turn my comp off when I got to bed or work.

Not true. Eventually there comes a point they need to reboot, such as a kernel upgrade, and being able for them to reboot faster benefits them as well. There are also a number of people who dual boot. Being able to boot Linux faster saves them time, even if Windows is just as sluggish.
