I can understand glitches in the bios - As that happens on all new processor releases. Bios updates take care of that. However, A supply issue is just a killer mistake. I cannot think of anything more frustrating for AMD than to work so hard and have ample processors ready for the launching and the MB manufactuers not have their end of the supply chain in order. IMHO, If it was a fault of AMD's then we would still have a good supply of MBs its just they would be defective in some way by a mistake from AMD. Since the release date was widely known you really have to look at the MB manufactuers more closely. What I find odd is that I can see a few of the MB manufactuers running out of stock but not all of them. So, Clearly somethings did not go right that effected all the MB manufactuers.
I have noticed some things about the x370 MBs. First, Has anyone noticed the placement of the 1xPCIe busses? Some of the boards have them starting first (closest to the power supply or processor chip) and some have them after the video card buss. If they start after the video card buss then with most high performance video cards taking up 2 slots you automatically lose the use of one of the smaller busses. Also, Some of the MBs just skip it entirely and give you only 2 1xPCIe busses.
My issue was that I wanted a minimum of 8 sata ports. So, It seemed at the time I was selecting my MB that the ones that had a good layout for the small busses Versus the video card busses had only 6 sata ports or less. I can live without one small buss. Its not a deal breaker. I could have also just bought an add on card for the extra sata ports too. But these are suppose to be the top end boards and I just think some better wisdom could be used in placement of the busses and the amount of sata ports.
I also wish that someone would have released a board without all the glitsy lights and graphics and concentrated more on the hardware. One of the boards I saw had a wireless on board that you hook 2 antennas too. I think that really isnt needed as a usb dongle would do better.
My little extra rant is the video cards themselfs. If your installing into a tower like most of us do. Why does the cooling heatsink and fan face down all the time? I have to be missing something here as this has been the norm for years. I was always taught that heat rises. So, With the heatsink and fan facing down it just does not seem right.
Anyways, Those are my thoughts.
