For desktop Linux they are all superfluous and even *decrease* your security(!). AV can only be of limited use for servers.

I advise to read this article, that I've written about security in Linux Mint:
https://sites.google.com/site/easylinux ... t/security
Tip: 10 things to do after installing Linux Mint 20 Ulyana
Keep your Linux Mint healthy: Avoid these 10 fatal mistakes

All in all, horse sense simply makes sense.

http://www.clamav.net/ (non-commerical; Clam AntiVirus)
http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=14549 (non-commercial; kbitdefender)
http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php (commerical; AVG Anti-Virus)
http://www.bitdefender.com/ -> linux (commercial; bitdefender
http://www.f-prot.com/ (commerical; F-Prot Antivirus)
http://www.hbedv.com (commerical; AntiVir)
http://www.ravantivirus.com/ (commerical; RAV Antivirus)
http://www.avast.com/ (commerical; avast!)
http://www.norman.com/ (commerical; Norman)
http://www.pandasoftware.com/ (commerical; Panda)
http://www.astaro.com/# (commercial; Astaro's products)

As mentioned before AV is not needed fro linux desktop. If you are using LM as a server and need to protect the window computers "inside", then AV is helpful.

ClamAV is the "standard" in the linux world.

Hi,

If you are up for an adventure, monitor/block the malicious crap and nosy-noise (in both directions) at the perimeter. Find a used PC, build a psfsense https://www.pfsense.org/ router/firewall, and place it between your LAN and the outside world. Install suricata on the pfsense machine and watch the parade. If it creeps you out, lock it down.

I think apps that block you from malicious sites is better than having a malware-catching app.
I have a favorite game. It's on my Youtube Channel.
