Exa as a replacement for ls command in Linux ?

Post by Faust »

The colored display makes for much clearer reading and includes permissions and ownership for each file .
https://the.exa.website/

To quote from that site :-
" exa can display a file’s extended attributes, as well as standard filesystem information such as the inode,
the number of blocks, and a file’s various dates and times.
"

https://github.com/ogham/exa

Both links have screenshots so I didn't include them here .

Sound interesting but has anyone done a .deb package for it?

If your OS isn’t listed here, then you’ll have to download and install the binary yourself.
Such is life.
I'm not a huge fan of colours in a terminal, but that's just me.

Maybe a short install guide would be a good idea , for other folk reading here ?
Since it's not available in Software Manager , Synaptic Packages or PPAs

@kc1di
As far as I can see , it's not available as a .deb package

PS - can anyone point me at how to do " multi-quote " in this forum ?
