Hello
I am new to Linux, and use Peppermint Linux. I upgraded to version 16 and found that I cannot install any new packages. Get the below error
subprocess dpkg-deb - control was killed by signal (Bus error)
I tired various options suggested on the web but still get the error. Please assist if you can.
Thanks
Dinesh

Re: Software Manager : will not install
Hello, Dinesh.
I wonder a bit how you may have upgraded to Peppermint Linux 16, although this webpage announces that Peppermint Linux 8 has been released (May 2017)?
You might like to verify the exact version one more time, please?
The best thing to do might be posting the screen output displayed by the terminal command
Regards,
Karl

If you are writing about Mint 16, it has reached it's EOL (End Of Life), the repositories and servers have been taken down. Thus your inability to update/upgrade.

karlchen : I am using a 32 bit machine and was prompted to upgrade from version 5 to 16. Everything works fine apart from when trying to install applications.
I will try and get a screen shot of the error. I tired using Synaptic Package Manager and still get the same message.

PeppermintOS is at version 8, like Karlchen said. There is no version 16. What is your exact OS and version?
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

Please generate an overview of your system like this:
- Launch a terminal window (this is how to launch a terminal window);
- make the terminal window full screen, to avoid chopped lines;
- Copy/paste this command into the terminal:
