It hasn't been released on linux yet. The nightly build PPA only contains a release candidate.

Wish there was a "like" button. NO MENTION OF THE BUGS. (Laughing Smiley)
I hate updates, one of the biggest reasons I came to Linux. You install an OS, it works, you take the "recommended" updates, it breaks......I hate updates.

This is the version that I have been waiting for! I installed using snap package availible in Ubuntu's snap repository. So far no bugs have been seen in my limited testing. The inclusion for streaming to Chromecast runs well (with the native "recognized" formats for Chromecast) but transcoding of other files takes longer to fill buffer and may cause minor "pauses" as file is transcoded and buffer is satisifed.

Hi Lucap,

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

I have been using v3.x.x for a while in my Linux Mint 18.x using their Master Daily PPA and it works well. My current VLC is version 4.0.0 and it too works well although I did have some issues with some esoteric plugins. I used to be able to install all the plugins without a problem, not so with v4.x.x.

It will be interesting to see how it compares to MPV for high bitrate playback. :)
