Best Youtube (and others) videos about Linux
I love this guy: https://www.youtube.com/user/BadEditPro Joe Collins really provided some excellent material on Linux Mint, and Linux in general. His stuff is all so sound and well reasoned. Check him out. What other excellent Linux videos are out there for all the community ; Noobs and power users alike?

Joe Collins, yeah! I've really enjoyed and gotten some great tips from his vids.
My favorite linux youtuber is Sneekylinux. Who else comes up with titles like "Puppy Linux 7.5..So Good I Wet My Pants." His brogue can be hard to understand if you're not used to down-home Brit English, but his vids are lighthearred and pure fun and I've actually learned a thing or 2 there. Would love to have a cuppa tea w/him.

I used to be a huge fan of Nixie Pixel back in the day. She is, in fact, how I learned of the existence of Mate and Cinnamon. However, she's had a bunch of health issues and other life struggles and she's really not putting that sort of stuff out any longer. Some things are relatively fundamental and therefore are still relevant. Just search for her on YouTube and you should still be able to find her videos.
I have a long and strange background in computers, and I've learned enough about the underpinnings of GNU+Linux that I can figure things out or figure out how to find out about things when I need to. However, mostly my needs are standard normal computer user stuff and so I'm really not actively trying to develop further.

Agreed. I enjoyed her videos as well. I was sad to hear of her issues.Portreve wrote: ⤴Tue May 08, 2018 6:54 pm I used to be a huge fan of Nixie Pixel back in the day.... She is still good, and I miss her videos (new ones). Let's post links and make this a great resource.

Re: Best Youtube (and others) videos about Linux
I too stumbled upon Joe’s youtube videos they helped me to make the jump to Linux Mint 18.3, I couldn’t be more happier that I did.
Thanks Joe

I have only recently discovered the great value of YouTube as a learning tool.
One channel that stands out for me more and more is DistroTube hosted by Derek Taylor.

It helps a lot that I find his dialect of English to be "normal", but I have drawn from many sources.

Nixie Pixel was always great, but took a trip off the reservation, about time following her Japan trip and stranded there awhile.
Hopefully she will resume her place as before one day. Spatry videos are good. Chris Were, a bit soft spoken and over detailed at times. Infinitely Galactic has great videos, but then he went to college I think and disappeared for awhile. Too many videos online now to list all the best ones. There's one guy, I won't say the name, that takes half hour to say 10 minutes of stuff and wanders all over the place, LOL. Linux Scoop is a good site.

All things go better with Mint. Mint julep, mint jelly, mint gum, candy mints, pillow mints, peppermint, chocolate mints, spearmint,....

Re: Best Youtube (and others) videos about Linux
Nixie has had a combination of organ and nervous system problems crop up since she returned from Japan; however, she has also publicly discussed being diagnosed with severe issues with ADHD. I personally wonder if she might not also have bouts of manic depression, or something else (though please understand this is my opinion and not based on anything she's said)...Spearmint2 wrote: ⤴Sun Jun 10, 2018 3:13 am Nixie Pixel was always great, but took a trip off the reservation, about time following her Japan trip and stranded there awhile.

She started working on another community project, and while I'd love to help out, it is nothing I have the remotest connection to nor experience in, so I don't actively follow her any longer.

Re: Best Youtube (and others) videos about Linux
Apparently Lunduke decided to put his stuff behind a paywall, and give the finger to all those who do not pay. Oh, well. DistroTube is a good alternative.

Bryan Lunduke discusses how his changes are going, and how shows on Patreon will be released on a regular delayed basis for free.

Re: Best Youtube (and others) videos about Linux
In addition to the aforementioned Joe Collins, Spatry, Nixie Pixel, Chris Were and Linux Gamer (and watching Lunduke's "Linux Sucks..." presentations for a candid view on the state of the platform over the past few years), I have also watched some videos from these fellows:
Switched to Linux
Chase Dizzie
All of these were great resources during my Linux n00b days.
EDIT: And they still are today, because I still qualify as a "Linux n00b", to be honest.

Keep them coming. I would like to see people who do more linux based computer reviews, as well as gaming and such on Linux.
