Archive of Operating Systems

We often see posts here from people looking to install Linux on older hardware .
This site is not aimed at that issue specifically , but I thought it might be a useful resource .

Some are no longer under active development and some have been taken over by new devs
but they all have helpful notes which give guidance on suitability .

A note of caution here! Whilst you,may be able to run older OSs on older hardware they should not be connected to the internet as they will be very insecure. Life can become very difficult if say your e-mail is hacked and extremely difficult if your bank account has been hacked...

You also cannot expect newer software versions to run on old Linux versions with deprecated libraries etc in Linux.
