Re: UEFI for cold newbies
one thing that would help: do we know of a nice laptop -- a Dell 14" perhaps -- that converts readilly to MINT/Cinamon ?

Re: UEFI for cold newbies
I bought a standard Dell laptop a couple years ago and decided to keep it with W10 as I have two older Acer laptops given to me that I have been running Mint 18.0 on for some years. That is my dual boot method. Solves a lot of issues. I don't care to spend a lot of time on the Mint forums trying to solve dual boot issues. If it cannot work out of the box, I am not interested.
The W10 is good for my iPhone and iPad. Mint for watching DVD's.
Too many hassles trying to get around the UEFI issue. I use to dual boot until UEFI came up.
