Ubuntu 16.04 LTS upgrade gets stuck on python3-uno

[ split from Update Manager and Software Source don't open ]

I have the exact same problem when I try to upgrade Ubuntu LTS 16

Preparing to unpack .../python3-uno_1%3a4.2.8-0ubuntu5.3_amd64.deb ...
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python3-uno.prerm: 6: /var/lib/dpkg/info/python3-uno.prerm: py3clean: not found
dpkg: warning: subprocess old pre-removal script returned error exit status 127
dpkg: trying script from the new package instead ...
/var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/prerm: 6: /var/lib/dpkg/tmp.ci/prerm: py3clean: not found
dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/python3-uno_1%3a4.2.8-0ubuntu5.3_amd64.deb (--unpack):
subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 127
/var/lib/dpkg/info/python3-uno.postinst: 6: /var/lib/dpkg/info/python3-uno.postinst: py3compile: not found
dpkg: error while cleaning up:
subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127

I've tried all the "solution"s I could find on the internet - reinstall, fix-broken, clean etc etc. It just wouldn't let me upgrade my installation and always gets stuck on this problem.

Reason: split and moved here as this is apparently about Ubuntu and in any case new questions deserve new topics

Just a thought;
Have you tried deleting that file and re-downloading a fresh copy? Sometimes a re-install won't re-download.
To remove: sudo rm /var/cache/apt/archives/python3-uno_1%3a4.2.8-0ubuntu5.3_amd64.deb
Then retry the upgrade, hopefully it will download a fresh copy . . :)
