SD card not working *NOT RESOLVED, BUT SURRENDERED*

Post by jiegodose »

First of all, hello! I've been a member of the community since a few years back. First time poster.

I've this sd card that's 14 GB of size. I used to use it on a Android 7.0 device. One day it totally wiped out the data from it, and it became unreadable under windows, linux and all OSs I've tried.

Data is not important to me right now, so I'm not trying to recover that. I just want the sd card back. this is what appears with a sudo fdisk -l:

Code: Select all

Disk /dev/sda: 931,5 GiB, 1000204886016 bytes, 1953525168 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 4096 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 4096 bytes / 4096 bytes
Disklabel type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x78d7b8de

Dispositivo Inicializar Start Fim Setores Size Id Tipo
/dev/sda1 * 2048 1941094399 1941092352 925,6G 83 Linux
/dev/sda2 1941096446 1953523711 12427266 5,9G 5 Estendida
/dev/sda5 1941096448 1953523711 12427264 5,9G 82 Linux swap / Solaris

Partition 2 does not start on physical sector boundary.

Disk /dev/sdb: 14,9 GiB, 15931539456 bytes, 31116288 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disklabel type: gpt
Disk identifier: 4E0C2E3B-350D-4F37-A1C5-E3B3FF99312D
I've tried dd it, filling it with /dev/zero (it got totally full of zeros), sudo gparteding until death, any format tools you can imagine in windows and nothin. It looks like this in a sudo gparted:

You might try mkusb, but as that is a front end for dd, probably won't work. Think it's time to consign it to the bin, and for that size they are cheap.

Here in Brazil are actually quite expensive. But oh well... I'll try to get a warranty or something.

while in gparted you select your usb card > device > create partition table > msdos
you might need to right click on the partitions to unmount if by chance they mounted
