Slackware was the starting point of my Linux journey - and I still have the PCW magazine CD (Feb. 1996) with Slackware Professional 2.0 on it. I just popped the CD in my laptop running Mint 19 and the CD still reads.
Since Slackware, I've used Redhat (around 2000), Mandrake, SUSe (up until KDE 4, 3.5.xx was last good one I've seen), a Ubuntu or two, but Mint since Gloria.
So thank you the Slackware people for getting me on the road away from Windows and away to freedom!

Wow, this is a blast from the past. Is it still the most POSIX compliant Linux distro?
Re: Slackware - happy 25th birthday
Congrats to Slackware!
I have considering trying it, but always sounded like too much work

Great news - but it may be worth monitoring this thread. Pat Volkerding is in need of help.

As far as I'm aware, yes.

Thank you for posting the link to LQ @Lysander666, a sorry situation for a Linux pioneer to find himself in.
Read Patrick's post on page one of the thread, find the method to help him out on page 11.
I sent him my July Premium Bond winnings - not much but it will help towards getting something fixed.
