[SOLVED] What is the benefit of separate /boot partition?

Post by JerryF » Wed Aug 15, 2018 1:45 pm

I see a posts from time to time about how the /boot partition has become full.

What is the benefit of having a separate /boot partition?

Thanks.

I can't think of one. My UEFI system has a separate /boot/efi partition, but that doesn't have multiple versions of anything.

Interesting read - thanks for the link. I keep forgetting that some users made the switch to Linux because it handles older hardware so much better than Windows.
