On the other hand, isn't security
the main reason people switch to Linux? Is it possible people who learn more about Linux eventually try Kali? I personally can't imagine myself going that route though, even if I become good in Linux.
Kali isn't an especially secure disto in itself - it's bare bones debian with a suite of tools for testing and attempting to break other's security. I suppose as a Mint user you might install it on another machine and try and break into your Mint machine. Then of course you'd responsibly report your findings to the Dev team...
Kali Linux is an open source project that is maintained and funded by Offensive Security, a provider of world-class information security training and penetration testing services. In addition to Kali Linux, Offensive Security also maintains the Exploit Database and the free online course, Metasploit Unleashed.
