Who choses the names for the new Linux releases? Maybe we can keep a poll for the hottest names for new releases? I would like to suggest we use hot and happening movie stars names. Margot Robbie has my vote.

Clem does.
If your issue is solved, kindly indicate that by editing the first post in the topic, and adding [SOLVED] to the title. Thanks!

I know that Clem is our greatest contributor to LinuxMint. Respect. Ofcourse he is the best person to choose the name for every new release. Didnt know though how it was chosen before. I feel somewhat ashamed now for my silly suggestion about movie stars names for Linux releases. Sorry, that I got a bit giddy. I love the name Tara by the way. Much better than Margot''s Robbie name.

It's already being done. Debian releases are named after characters from the Toy Story movie. And then of course there is this one: http://hannahmontana.sourceforge.net/

I like "Michelle".
That's how I feel about MintMichelle is one of the most beautiful girls you will ever meet. She will always be kind to you. Any man who is lucky enough to have her in his life should be thankful. any man who dumps her is a complete idiot. she will be a loving companion, or a loyal friend. no matter what, always be kind to her, and she will be kind to you.

Linux does not need to be sexy. It is a tool.Get a life folks. Even the women names here for Mint are lame. The numbers keep it it simple. Many do not understand the KISS principle. Techies like to make life more complicated than necessary.

What good would using a movie star's name do?
none for me, I don't know the names of any of them....
just flickering characters across the screen and then they are gone forever.
unless the name is Gary Sinise

The best way to increase GNU+Linux's popularity, and therefore head count, is to make it more apparently relevant to the masses.
Naming alone won't do anything.

Hmmm... Gary Sinise Linux. I want to run that distro already.
